Mr. Legault’s son, Michel Legault of Hanmer, clarifies that his father no longer works on the farm, but his home is on the same farmland as his other son’s house. That fateful Thursday, his nephew went to work on a fence, and the elder Legault wanted to go help. “My nephew told him, “no Grandpa, it’s too hot out, you can’t come”, because it was 30 degrees out that afternoon,” he recounts.

What was a harrowing night of turmoil for a River Valley family ended with a collective sigh of relief from the whole community, when 82-year old Fernand Legault was finally found after a frantic overnight search involving two police forces and over 100 volunteers.
Mr. Legault went missing on Thursday, August 11 after being last seen in the Du Moulin Rd. area in River Valley around 3 pm. “Mr. Legault left his residence to go help out with work in the field but did not return home,” stated a WN Police news release issued on Friday morning. Police gave a description of Legault, stating that the elderly man had health problems and asking for help to locate him after the overnight search had proved fruitless.
