Big turkey winner

For the second year in row, White Woods Public School held its annual turkey trot on October 8, just in time for Thanksgiving. The event saw 80 per cent of students walking around a track after collecting pledges, raising $750 for the White Woods schoolyard improvement project.

Every time they went around the track, each student had their name entered into a draw for a free turkey. Eleven turkeys were won, just in time for a Thanksgiving feast, with Northern Secondary School student council, Don’s Butcher Shop and Foodland Sturgeon Falls having donated the birds.

Pictured are Jeremy Yee, Northern Secondary School president, Emma Robineau, grand prize winner of a turkey and all the trimmings, and Harrison Albers, Northern Secondary School Vice President.
