The Tribune has been West Nipissing’s community newspaper since 1968, proudly keeping residents abreast of all the news and events that affect them on a weekly basis.
Whether it’s covering municipal council, provincial and federal politics, school activities, social or cultural events, local sports, court proceedings, police beats, public services or other community issues, our professional journalists seek out the information you need to stay on top of it all.
The newspaper respects strict editorial guidelines and conforms to industry standards in journalistic integrity and objectivity, ensuring you get all the facts and all the angles so you can make your own judgements. We often fight to get you the information you deserve on important issues, defending the public’s right to access vital information when no one else will.
The Tribune is a dedicated team of people who both work and live in West Nipissing, so we care about this community and you, our friends and neighbours. Every story we cover is 100% local, researched and written with you in mind. Our philosophy is that there are no small stories – if it is important to our readers, it is important to us.
The Tribune remains one of Ontario’s increasingly rare independent newspapers, 100% locally owned and operated. Publisher Suzanne Gammon, born and raised in West Nipissing, has been operating the newspaper since 1994. It is also one of the rare bilingual publications in Canada, respecting West Nipissing’s rich and unique bilingual and tri-cultural character.
The Tribune is proud to be the most widely-read publication in our area, reaching over 8,000 local readers through 3,500 copies distributed weekly. We thank you for inviting us into your home every week and hope you enjoy every issue cover to cover !
The Tribune has an office in downtown Sturgeon Falls, at 206 King Street. Office hours are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday, but we remain available to cover events throughout the community.
