Food, fun and fantastic cars

It’s become a summer tradition at Au Château, one residents and visitors look forward to every year. The seniors’ home hosted its free barbecue and classic car show last Thursday, August 22. Hundreds of attendees enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs and salad along with live entertainment and a display of 36 classic vehicles.

The day allows residents and family to reconnect, relive the ‘good ol’ days’ of wide, shiny cars and get some sunshine outdoors. Some of the vehicles that brought back many memories and good stories were the 1975 Ford Thunderbird, 1957 International truck, 1934 Model T, 1949 Studebaker and 1975 Triumph.

“What’s not to like?” says Au Chateau Coordinator of Resident Services and the day’s organizer, Liane Leblanc. “It was a great time and a huge success! We served 650 burgers and 200 hot dogs. (…) It brings the community to us, and lets us bring our residents out, who usually aren’t able to go out there and have a good time. It enables them to leave their room, go enjoy the weather, enjoy the vehicles, enjoy the music, and enjoy the food!”

JR Aubertin and Ghostrider entertained the crowd with country classics while attendees danced and chatted away the afternoon.
