Hello West Nipissing! My name is Josh Casey and I’ve joined The Tribune as the newest journalist.
I’m excited to join a locally independent newspaper that is also bilingual, community based and oriented. Over the coming days, weeks, and months, you’ll be seeing more of me in the community, whether it be on assignment or going grocery shopping. I know COVID-19 has changed the way that we live our everyday lives and meet with people, but I hope we can interact in a socially distanced way until the pandemic is behind us.
Now, if you’re wondering who this guy is, here’s some backstory. I grew up in the City of Kawartha Lakes, over 300 kilometers southeast of Sturgeon Falls. I have lived there off and on for much of my life, with stopovers in London, Ontario and British Columbia, and now Sturgeon Falls.
My journalism career began at Fanshawe College where I studied broadcast journalism. Since attending college, I’ve worked at a variety of outlets in various markets, including radio, television, online and print. With several years of journalism experience under my belt, I’m looking forward to this new chapter with The Tribune.
Some interesting facts about me are; I’m also a certified fire prevention inspector/fire public educator, public relations practitioner, and ex school custodian.
When not working, I enjoy going on adventures, whether that be a hike or a drive or really anything that’s outdoors like kayaking or snowmobiling. I’m also a giant crime and Harry Potter nerd.
So, that’s a little information about me.
If you have any suggestions on where I should visit, what I should do in West Nipissing or have any food recommendations, please let me know. I’m always looking for a new adventure and good food.
I can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (705) 753-2930.
