CAHIERS SPÉCIAUX

‘Nevada Girl owner Sylvie M. Levac swung by the West Nipissing Literacy Alliance (WNLA) this week with a big Christmas gift.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Levac presented the WNLA with a cheque for $58,012.17. The money was raised through the sale of Nevada tickets from April 2015 to November 2017.

“The money is raised from every single Nevada ticket bought by the community,” she said. “A percentage of those sales goes into a bank account and we then donate the funds after a while. It’s a great initiative and it’s from the community!”

Nanditta Colbert, Executive Director at WNLA, is thrilled with the money.

“It’s great news! The money will be going into our Youth Only Learning Oasis (YOLO) program that was developed a few years ago.” YOLO focuses mainly on after school programming for youth, as well as home schooling families.
