Santa decided to take a quick break from his toy factory last Sunday, Sept. 24, and make an early appearance at the Odeon to help raise funds for the upcoming Christmas Telethon. It’s the 2nd year in a row Saint Nick visits Sturgeon Falls in early Fall to support the volunteer effort, and over 200 people joined him. Participants got to enjoy a cold beverage on the hot day, while listening to some local music and having a bite to eat for a good cause.

The big draw, other than Santa, are the local performers who lend their time and talent to the event, including co-organizer Claude Lecuyer, aka Ghost Rider.

“Last year, we were approached by Riko and Peggy, who own the bar,” said his wife and co-organizer Linda Lecuyer. “They wanted to get started early in fundraising for the telethon and of course myself as well as my husband, Claude, were more than happy to do it!”

Many tried their luck, paying $5 for a chance to win many prizes donated by local businesses and buying 50/50 tickets.
